Ethnography

         People speak differently because they have presumably different language variation. They use different way in uttering the notion from the speaker to the hearer. The reason is because each people or even group has its own norms of linguistic behavior. The way how people express their idea is different among others. It is due to the fact that there is ethnographical factor which takes a part in this case.

            Hymes facilitate the theory of analyzing this problem. The SPEAKING theory provided by Hymes can effort to understand the language use by particular people with their own way. Indeed, variety of speaking somewhat encourage further attention.

            In addition to Ethnography of speaking, it is Ethnomethodology which interests in the process and the way of people interpretation about the world around them. To understand the utterance or sentence, having background knowledge is expected. People suppose to share something before directly point the statement. The assumption toward something before speaking can maintain the social contact and interaction because it can avoid the misunderstanding.

            Consequently, to understand the utterance necessitates the contextual understanding. Moreover, the language used in particular occasion represent however the meaning. Therefore, the existence of Hymes Theory can easier the analysis because common sense of knowledge is not enough anyway.
